Neil Canning is a contemporary British artist. Although considered very much part of the landscape tradition, it is abstraction that allows him to convey a much more personal response to the surrounding world. His powerful, dramatic paintings aim to capture the sensation of being outdoors. They often give an impression of moving through the landscape, using multiple viewpoints and changing light.
