Dawn Stacey regularly sketches at her allotment with a particular interest in the Dahlia, loving their flamboyant quality, a shining light with their huge blossoms and velvet rich colours of crimson pinks and magenta, while absorbing the sounds of nature. Her work has the essence of botanical engravings and worn frescoes, while the background tells the story of the natural world woven through it, the foreground of plants and flowers emerge blooming and unfolding onto the surface. People and animals often appear in her work creating an intimate narrative with each other and nature.
