Cigar Masterclasses
Explore the fascinating world of cigars at Knightsbridge's best kept secret, The Garden Room, with our team of passionate cigar sommeliers. Taking place every month, discover a different cigar from our range of Cuban and pre-Castro cigars, accompanied by a drink pairing.
The one hour masterclasses include an introduction to Cuban cigars, with particular focus on the origin and history of the cigar featured in that month's event. Taste and smoke the cigar in good company on the heated and covered terrace and ask your cigar sommelier any questions you might have - they will be delighted to share their vast knowledge. After the event, guests are invited to stay on and enjoy drinks, food and cigars from our humidor on the terrace.
The one-hour masterclasses include:
- Meet our cigar sommeliers
- A seated introduction to Cuban cigars as well as an introduction to the cigar of the month itself
- Cigar of the month to taste and smoke
- Drink pairing
- Q & A with our cigar sommelier and the opportunity to learn and develop your taste and knowledge of cigars

Por Larranaga 47 - £210
Por Larranaga 47 is an extremely special cigar having been constructed as the UK’s Regional Edition for 2023. The name comes from the fact that it has a ring gauge of 47 and is in fact a Churchill sized cigar. Larranaga is the oldest Cuban brand still producing cigars since 1834. Presented with a Cigar Malt Old Fashioned.

Montecristo Open Master - £145
The ‘Open’ range of Montecristo Cigars were launched in 2009 and are blended to give a milder smoke than the regular Montecristos. A very smooth smoking cigar, the Master is a Robusto in size and lasts approximately 45 to 50 minutes. It is perfect for the novice cigar smoker due to its easy-smoking properties. Presented with a glass of The Lakes Distillery whisky.

Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo De Rio Seco - £165
A simply delicious cigar and one of two in the range; the other being the San Juan. Launched in 2018 it has hefty ring-gauge of 56 giving an extremely cool and slow burn. Interestingly the two cigars in this range only contain two, rather than the usual three, types of filler, namely Seco and Volado. These are leaves form the top and middle of the plant. One of the smoothest and ‘creamiest’ of all Havana cigars, they have quickly become a firm favourite. Presented with a glass of The Lakes Distillery whisky.
The Garden Room
A hidden oasis tucked away from the bustle of Hyde Park Corner, the Garden Room is The Lanesborough’s, and indeed Knightsbridge’s, best kept secret. Book a table after your cigar masterclass to complete the experience and enjoy our selection of fine Cognacs and Armagnacs, alongside fine foods and an impressive selection of Cuban and pre-Castro cigars presented in the celebrated walk-in humidor.

A minimum spend of £50 per person applies after 7.30pm
Last orders:
Food orders may be placed until 11pm daily. Last orders for drinks are 15 minutes before closing

Maximum 10 guests per masterclass/tasting. Seats can be booked online via our online booking tool up to three months in advance, alternatively to make advance bookings please email [email protected] or call +44 (0)207 259 5599. Credit card details are required to guarantee your booking, these will be taken at booking stage. A deposit may be applicable and full payment will be taken on the day of the masterclass. No shows or cancellations within 48 hours will be fully charged and are non-refundable.
