Cigar Masterclasses
Explore the fascinating world of cigars at Knightsbridge's best kept secret, The Garden Room, with our team of passionate cigar sommeliers. Taking place every month, discover a different cigar from our range of Cuban and pre-Castro cigars, accompanied by a drink pairing.
The one hour masterclasses include an introduction to Cuban cigars, with particular focus on the origin and history of the cigar featured in that month's event. Taste and smoke the cigar in good company on the heated and covered terrace and ask your cigar sommelier any questions you might have - they will be delighted to share their vast knowledge. After the event, guests are invited to stay on and enjoy drinks, food and cigars from our humidor on the terrace.
The one-hour masterclasses include:

- A seated introduction to Cuban cigars as well as an introduction to the cigar of the month itself
- Cigar of the month to taste and smoke
- Drink pairing
- Q & A with our cigar sommelier and the opportunity to learn and develop your taste and knowledge of cigars

Montecristo Linea 1935 Dumas & Dalmore King Alexander III
The Dumas is one of three cigars within the Linea 1935, which was created to celebrate the birth of Montecristo in 1935. Named after Alexandre Dumas, the author of The Count of Montecristo, these are a fuller flavoured version of the standard blend with an added sweetness unique to this line of cigars. The cigar measures 5 ¼ inches in length with a ring gauge of 49. Paired with Dalmore King Alexander III, a six-wood bottling from Dalmore whisky, matured in wine, Madeira, Sherry, Marsala, Kentucky bourbon and Port casks. £175 per person.

Romeo Y Julieta Linea D’Oro Dianas & Bunnahabhain 18 Year Old
Named after William Shakespeare’s tragic lovers, Romeo y Julieta is probably the most evocative of all Cuban cigar brands. Linea D’Oro, or ‘Gold Line’ cigars were announced in 2020 to celebrate the 145th anniversary of the famous brand. There are three cigars in the range and they are full-flavoured with a wonderful smoothness and a perfect draw. Paired with Bunnahabhain 18-Year-Old, an intensely warming single malt scotch whisky with notes of dried fruit, sherry, toffee and spices leading to a rich honeyed nuttiness and the slightest hint of sea salt. £135 per person.

H.Upmann No2 & Zacapa XO
Hermann Upmann, a German banker sent to Havana in the 1800s, opened a cigar factory in 1844 after his bank folded. To this day, the factory still produces hand-made cigars. The No2 cigar, similar in quality to the Montecristo No2 but with a milder flavour, is ideal to pair with a deliciously sweet and rich aged rum from Guatemala, recommended as a perfect match with a great Cuban cigar. £135 per person
The Garden Room
A hidden oasis tucked away from the bustle of Hyde Park Corner, the Garden Room is The Lanesborough’s, and indeed Knightsbridge’s, best kept secret. Book a table after your cigar masterclass to complete the experience and enjoy our selection of fine Cognacs and Armagnacs, alongside fine foods and an impressive selection of Cuban and pre-Castro cigars presented in the celebrated walk-in humidor.

A minimum spend of £50 per person applies after 7.30pm
Last orders:
Food orders may be placed until 11pm daily. Last orders for drinks are 15 minutes before closing

Maximum 10 guests per masterclass/tasting. Seats can be booked online via our online booking tool up to three months in advance, alternatively to make advance bookings please email [email protected] or call +44 (0)207 259 5599. Credit card details are required to guarantee your booking, these will be taken at booking stage. A deposit may be applicable and full payment will be taken on the day of the masterclass. No shows or cancellations within 48 hours will be fully charged and are non-refundable.
