Group CSR actions
• As a common standard all hotels are monitoring their resource consumption including electricity, water and gas through the data management system Con-Serve™. The Group strives to reduce their resource consumption. • Additionally all hotels have adopted the ‘Giving Bag’ scheme, which allows guests to donate any clothes or accessories they no longer wish to take home to those in need through the Red Cross. Guests are also given the possibility to help disadvantaged countries by donating their partially used bath products to the ‘Clean the World’ foundation. Both donations only need to be dropped into a ‘Giving Bag’ which have been placed in every Hotel room wardrobe. The Oetker Collection works with Considerate Hoteliers to ensure all commitments are implemented, strategies are adhered to and progress is tracked.
The Lanesborough CSR actions
The Lanesborough Green Pearl Team (CSR team) has initiated an award system to recognise positive CSR actions undertaken by staff members. The Library Bar team was given the recent quarterly ‘Green Pearl Award’ for their innovative way of recycling fresh fruit to make dried fruit garnishes for cocktails. The annual Green Pearl Award was given to the Back of House team for changing to green cleaning products and planting two fruit trees in their honour with ‘Trees for Cities’. The Laundry Team has stopped using plastic wrap for guest rooms (previously would wrap the clothes, bring them up to the room, butlers unwrap and hang in closet). This action has greatly reduced its plastic waste. Nearly £4,000 was raised towards Mother's to Mother's Charity from afternoon tea sales in March 2016.
